seven years of hair

I've been spending countless hours scanning and editing years and years of sketchbooks the past couple o' weeks. Its been a complete fucking headtrip/time-machine-like opening old diaries. I thought those feelings went away? Every liner-note/rant transports me to the time in which it was written/drawn. Of course, I can also look at them and appreciate them aesthetically-so crazy to see where I was in 2005/2007-so much of it is terrible, but theres some gems hidden.
Lots of techniques and magic I don't feel I can recreate.

Specifically, "June 2007"; The time in which it was composed/completed was such an angst-ridden, confusing, dark time. Mickey Mouse dark. Not like "drug" dark. Lots of not-sleeping, staying out to all hours, hanging out at places I would never hang out at, etc. Was going through a break-up, which made me throw myself into my art. You can see it happening. I was heavily influenced by artists like Barron Storey, John Copeland, and my big brother, Josh Wigger, at the time, and I still am to an extent, but you can tell at a certain point in this book, that I was starting to find my own voice.

tom waits

Sitting in the forest, wondering and waiting, meanwhilst an angle angel appears along with the skulls of your ancestors to vomit a knowledge vine into your ear. 18" x 24". Open in a new tab to see some details.

drawlings in a tin shed

"Assembling the facts, Dismantling the truth"-one of my favorite pieces from Michael Garcia's show, "solace in a tin shed". Couldn't help but sketch it quickly so I could keep some part of it forever. Unless of course, someone wants to buy a couple paintings from me so I could take it home?
You have to see it in real life, not photos, to really get a feel for it...so much detail and hidden gems in this monster.

Another sketch of a Garcia piece. This one of the show's title piece. So much texture and detail to try and capture in a quick and small drawing. I tried anyway.

Been mailing out these care packages of the new zine along with postcards, stickers, reciepts, posters, or whatever else I can find laying around. Some with extra doodles and whatnot. Get 'em while they hot.

Thing 1 & Thing 2 (new zine)

The kind folks at Arte Americas let me use their copy machines last week to put together a zine of drawlings. It's been years since I made a book of drawlings without any sort of planning or theme, or layout before hand. I used my sketchbook from the past year; all the greatest hits and fan favorites; so these pages are filled with failed ideas, sketches for paintings, grocery lists/to-do lists, drawings of dictators, a few jokes, drawings of the downtown Fresno landscape, and lots of other goodies you'll have to see for yourself.

Sneak Peek;

3 dollars each or both for 5. send 5 bucks to my paypal, and i'll send you both plus goodies; obamador@gmail.com

also available here.

Hog-ust/September already?

Been busy the last few weeks...which is code word for people who cant manage their time properly. Been finishing up some commissions, asking permissions, dealing with nocturnal emissions, etc.
I tried to do the "one a day" thing, but FAILED...i'll try it again soon, though. In the mean time, here are some medio-core drawrings that'll keep your interest for all of 5 minutes.
Featured are some failed drawings, nude sketches that may or may not be real, watercolor droplings and what not. I'm getting ready to start working for the show in November...i'll try and post regularly once I get going on that. Oh, and you can zoom in on all the images like always...feel free to dissect my techniques.
